High School Screenings and Discussions

High Schools across the U.S. and world are using American Factory within their classroom curriculum.

GOAL: Use American Factory documentary and discussion toolkit to support high school class curriculum and discussions.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

  • A high school sophomore class used the film and discussion guide as part of their unit on work. Some of the key themes from their discussion included conversations on unions, the future of work in the age of automation, and working conditions for both U.S. and Chinese workers.
  • Another classroom watched and debriefed the film over the course of several days. After they finished the film, the students responded both individually and collectively to the prompts and engaged in conversations on “issues surrounding work, unions and their role, sustainability, cultural differences.”
  • Many of the high school classrooms using American Factory plan to continue to research and discuss the issues raised in the film during the rest of the school year.
